Dy CMO case: Application devoid of merit, CBI tells court

On November 24, Malti had filed the application in the court challenging the CBI's closure report into her husband's murder case on various counts.

The CBI in its closure report had submitted that all evidence indicated that the Deputy CMO had committed suicide.

Filing its reply today in the court of Special Judicial Magistrate Neelmani Kant Tripathi, the agency said a thorough and professional investigation into the case was carried out.

The CBI told the court that the issues raised by Malti in her application were looked into during the probe.

The application filed by the complainant was devoid of merit and should be rejected, it said.

The court fixed January five for final order.

Challenging the closure report, Malti had said prima facie her husband's death seemed to be a case of murder.

She had said when Sachan was in jail he wrote a letter to her expressing apprehensions that he might be killed, but the CBI did not carry out satisfactory probe into this aspect.

The CBI had on September 28 filed its closure report in Sachan's murder case in the court saying the conclusive evidence pointed to suicide.

The report said during the investigation no evidence had come on record indicating Sachan's death in jail on June 22, 2011 to be a homicide.

The evidence collected during investigation, including statements of witnesses and expert opinions, pointed out that Sachan had committed suicide, it had said.
