The officer will also look into cross complaints in the matter, the minister said, replying to a debate initiated by Leader of Opposition Vinod Tawde.
Cases of atrocities against Dalits have increased in the recent past in the state, Tawde said.
Tawde pointed out that at present two separate officers handle such cases while one handles atrocities case the other handles cross complaints.
The killing of a Dalit youth Nitin Aage (17) allegedly by upper caste men for talking to the sister of one of them at Kharda in Ahmednagar had hogged national limelight recently.
