The West Bengal government plans to auction the 'Samriddhi Kalyani Analytics City' project in December.
The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation, the nodal agency, has issued the RFQ (Request for Quotation) for one of the six theme city projects and plans to e-auction the 50 acres of land earmarked for the project on December 15.
Government proposes to promote analytic research & other research-oriented activities in the state and keeping in mind it aims to promote a city around this theme.
Kalyani is located about 48 km from the central business district of Kolkata and 40 km from city airport and falls in Nadia district. AIIMS and IIIT have also been proposed here.
Of the total land, 25 per cent has to be kept for the weaker section of the society for building dwelling units with maximum price of Rs 3 lakh.
Bengal Chamber president Ambarish Dasgupta said, the Bengal Chamber first envisioned positioning Kolkata as a "niche city" specialising in IT applications rather than only a traditional IT hub. A niche city would mean promoting a select skill-set, just as Silicon Valley."
"West Bengal may take advantage of the most happening of businesses all around the globe - Analytics. Kolkata (the capital of West Bengal) can ideally leverage its advantage of being home to intellectual manpower which is its unique attribute, backed by premier higher education institutions like IIT, ISI, IIEST, JU, IIM and others," he added.
