E-auction of fancy registeration numbers back

Motorists, who could not get fancy registration numbers for their vehicles in the first attempt, have now another chance to flaunt these numbers with Delhi government today coming out with second round of e-auction policy.
Registration number 0001 will be the most expensive with the minimum reserve price fixed at Rs 5 lakh. Numbers from 0002 to 0009 will be the second most expensive, starting at Rs 3 lakh.
The third category will include numbers from 0010 to 0099, 0786, 1000, 1111, 7777 and 999, for which bids will start at Rs 2 lakh.
"We have today started the registration process for e-auction of fancy numbers, which will continue till November 12. Around 140 fancy numbers will be put to e-auction in the second round. Those people desiring these numbers can participate in the e-auction by registering online," said a senior official of transport department.

In first round, a fancy vehicle registration number (0001) had fetched Delhi government a whopping Rs 12.5 lakh and it collected a total of over Rs 74 lakh from the excercise earlier this month.
"We got warm response from people in first round. Transport department is hoping again that more motorists will take part in the e-auction of fancy numbers in second phase," he added.
