East Godavari district to host Konaseema Utsav from Apr 6

Konaseema Utsav, one of the state festivals in Andhra Pradesh, will be organised at Muramalla village in East Godavari district from Wednesday, deputy Chief Minister N Chinnarajappa said here today.
The minister held a meeting with the officials of various departments in regard to arrangements for the festival here.
"The village has prominent tourism spots hence all these will be prominently showed in the five-day festival," he said, adding "we are very happy to celebrate Konaseema festival as the state festival.
"Chief Minister (N Chandrababu Naidu) recently granted permission to celebrate nine festivals as State Festivals, out of which the beach festival in Kakinada, tribal festival in Maredumilli and Konaseema festival are from East Godavari district," he said.

Telugu new year 'Ugadi' will be celebrated during the Konaseema Utsav wherein several programmes will be organised.
"During the festival, replica of prominent temples in East Godavari will be set up. Various events like boat drive, food festival, competitions in sports and literature will also be organised," he added.

Chinnarajappa said Konaseema has prominent tourism spots as well as magnificent temples and the government will develop the area as the temple tourism circuit.
The government has already taken up Rs 150 crore Kakinada-Hopeland- Konaseema project and Rs 100 crore Godavari Akhanda project on the banks of river Godavari in Rajahmundry.

"Besides, the government will also develop Muramalla, S Yanam, Antervedi and other places which are of tourism importance," he said.
