The Election Commission has identified 6,090 hamlets across Bihar as 'vulnerable' where strong arm tactics could prevent weaker sections from voting.
"The 6,090 vulnerable hamlets have been identified by our sector officers posted at panchayat level. We prepare the list of such hamlets on the basis of their feedback." Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Lakshmanan told PTI.
The EC was making special arrangements to ensure smooth voting in these vulnerable areas, he said.
Disruptive elements in these hamlets were being identified and are issued notices and asked to fill-up bonds, he said.
"Altogether 57,531 persons have filled bond under preventive sections of the Criminal Procedure Code so far. We have identified 23,500 persons as probable source of trouble. 29,701 non-bailable warrants have been executed with the help of police across the state," said Lakshmanan.
Preparations were being made for patrols by sector in-charge in respective areas which would boost the confidence of voters residing in vulnerable hamlets. As per EC directives 1,815 security check posts were created across districts.
Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ajay V Nayak would hold a video conferencing with all commissioners, IG, district magistrates and SPs tomorrow to take stock of election preparation.
The EC registered 52 cases of model code of violations during the day. Most pertained to defacement of public and private property, misuse of vehicles and violation of the Loudspeaker Act.
