"There would not be any bar for the state government in going ahead with development work or for issuing any notification," said Amitjyoti Bhattacharya, Assistant Chief Electroal Officer.
The MCC would be completely withdrawn on May 28, as per the Election Commission's notification, till then, officials engaged in election duties could not be transferred.
The EC had directed the West Bengal government to remove seven senior officials from poll duties following complaints against them.
The state government had then said that those removed would be reinstated in their previous posts after the polling.
