EC removes 6 more officers in poll bound WB, total 44

With the removal of six IPS officers today following complaints from opposition parties, the Election Commission has so far removed 44 state government officials in poll-bound West Bengal.
"The EC removed six more IPS officials today. With this, altogether 44 officials in the state have been removed by the Election Commission. Some of them were given new assignments," state Home department officials said.
The EC had earlier shifted 38 officials including a District Magistrate, four SPs and an OSD in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) area.
Hooghly DM Sanjay Bansal, Burdwan SP Kunal Agarwal, Malda SP Prasun Bandyopadhyay, Nadia SP Bhaskar Mukherjee, South Dinajpur SP Arnab Ghosh and OSD in LWE area Bharati Ghosh were among the 38 officials the EC had removed earlier.
The six new faces, who were transferred to new posts, were Ongmu Ghamtsho Pal (SS, CID, WB HQ at Siliguri), Samarjit Roy (DC, STF, Kolkata), Nilanjan Biswas (SP, WBPRB), Meeraj Khalid (DC, Kolkata Armed Police, 1st Bn), Biswajit Ghosh (SP, PCC, WB) and Debabrata Das (Commandant, SAP 3rd Bn), Home department officials said.
Ghamtsho Pal was posted as Commandant, IR, 2nd Bn, Samarjit Roy as DC South, Eastern Division Kolkata, Nilanjan Biswas as DC STF Kolkata, Meeraj Khalid as DC South West Division Kolkata, Biswajit Ghosh as DC, Kolkata Armed Police, 1st Bn and Debabrata Das as DC North, Howrah Police Commissionerate.
Among those removed earlier, Prasun Bandyopadhyay has been asked to take over as Special Superintendent, CID, WB HQ at Siliguri, SP South Dinajpur Arnab Ghosh as SS, CID, Special Crime Malda, and SP Nadia Bhaskar Mukherjee as SP, CIF, West Bengal, the officials said.
The transfer order came recently after the full bench of the Election Commission, led by CEC Nasim Zaidi, visited the city and interacted with political leaders when opposition parties had complained against these officials.
