EC officials said they are in the process of sending Mandal a showcause notice after he was found to have made fresh comments which violate the model code of conduct.
Mandal, the Birbhum district president of Trinamool Congress, was yesterday censured for making certain utterances against a woman BJP candidate and asked him to be careful in future.
On earlier occasions too he has been issued showcause notice by the poll watchdog.
