Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur today urged the people of Punjab to come together to launch a protest against the "anti-national policies" of the Congress-led UPA government.
Blaming the Congress government for the current economic crisis in the country, the Bathinda MP said there was no hope of improvement under the present dispensation with neither Prime Minister Manmohan Singh nor Finance Minister P Chidambaram coming offering any solutions for it.
The only solution left is the dismissal of the Union government and imposition of financial emergency, she said.
"The UPA government is now trying to blame outside factors, including even the Syrian crisis, for the economic situation," she said in a statement.
Harsimrat said people would see through these excuses.
"How can any so-called global crisis be responsible for the government's own policy paralysis?" she asked.
Harsimrat, wife of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, said UPA had opted for ill-planed grandiose schemes instead of going in for nation building.
"Would it not have been better if the UPA government had sincerely tried to impart skills training to the youth?" she asked.
The SAD-BJP government in Punjab was concentrating on skill development of youth and women, she said, adding that more steps would be taken in the coming years to create a skilled work force which would be an asset for the state and the country.
