Reaching out to earthquake victims, the East Central Railway (ECR) zone has issued "zero value tickets" to 7,000 victims to send them to their destinations without fare.
The earthquake victims were provided "zero value tickets" without any payment to help them cover the journey to their destinations without any trouble, General Manager ECR A K Mittal said at a function here.
He said special arrangements have been made at railway stations at border points of Raxual, Jaynagar and Sitamarhi for victims arriving from earthquake-hit Nepal.
Senior Railway officials were camping at these places to ensure the earthquake victims do not face any problem, the ECR GM said.
Besides running special trains for earthquake victims, additional coaches were being attached in some regular trains, Mittal said after starting the online FIR lodging and Railway safety number 182 in Patna.
Additional Director General of Police (Rail) K S Dwivedi and Inspector General RPF-cum-Chief Security Commissioner of ECR Atul Pathak attended the function.
The Railway minister in his budgetary speech had announced the launch of a common helpline number across the country, which has been decided as 182, the GM said.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP (Government Railway Police) would provide security escort to 130 trains, which run through the ECR zone in night.
FIR booklets would be made available to escort parties, which would be prepared in triplicate with signatures of the complainant as well escort party official, Chief Public Relations Officer, ECR Arvind Kumar Rajak said in a statement.
One copy of FIR would be given to the complainant, another to the GRP police station where the case would be registered and third one would be in the office of the RPF or the GRP which issues it, Rajak added.
