ED seizes foreign, Indian currency notes worth Rs 95L

The ED today seized Indian and foreign currency notes worth Rs 95 lakh as part of its operation against illegal forex trade in Punjab.
Officials said the central probe agency conducted searches in Sector 22A here and Panchkula against a few people allegedly involved in illegal sale and purchase of currencies.
They said the operatives, identified as J S Chhabra and G Chhabra, were involved in illegal forex trade with agents based in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
Foreign currency notes worth Rs 85 lakh and other cash of Rs 9.50 lakh was seized by the agency under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, they said.
