Spirit maker Edrington Kyndal -- a joint venture between India's Kyndal Group and Scotland-based Edrington -- is aiming to expand its market to 26 cities in the country by early 2016, a senior official of the company said.
The company had started bottling, distributing and marketing 'Cutty Sark' scotch whiskey in August last year in the country.
Claiming to be one of India's leading alcoholic beverage companies, operating in the country's premium spirits segment, the Group currently has access to 16 markets in the country.
"Our idea is to make it more accessible. Currently we have access in 16 markets which we want to make it 18 by this financial year-end. And by the end of the first quarter of 2016 we aim to make it to 26 markets," Kyndal Group Managing Director Siddharth Banerji told reporters here.
Banerji was in the city for a relaunch of Cutty Sark, a blend of the best grain whiskey and finest malts in the world like The Macallan and Highland Park in the city, bottled for the first time outside of Scotland.
Incidentally, Cutty Sark had a soft launch in the Eastern part of the country couple of months back.
The import has already started in bulk from Scotland and bottled at Kyndal's facility at Gemini Distilleries in Goa. It will be available in SKUs of 180ml, 375ml, 750ml and one litre across all retail outlets with a maximum retail price for 75cl is expected to be Rs 1,400 and Rs 1800 for one litre.
"This blend imported in bulk from Scotland and Kyndal is using its best-in-class bottling facility at in Goa to bottle, pack and market Cutty Sark. This will ensure that the Indian consumers get access to the original Cutty Sark in an exciting new pack."
So far, the company has sold 1,50,000 cases in West Bengal, Banerji said that India accounts for 30 per cent of the flavoured-whisky market globally while the domestic market is growing at a rate of 10-12 per cent per annum, he said.
