Education policies should meet changing needs of face-paced

Union Minister Najma Heptulla today said there is a need to revamp the current education policies to meet the changing needs of the fast-paced generation.
"There is a greater need to reflect what education means to our people today and its role in the development of the individual and the society in the broader context of nation building. We must also see if our educational processes and policies suit the changing needs of this fast-paced generation," she said while addressing students at Jamia Millia Islamia.
"As the human civilization has evolved over the years, so have our concepts and philosophies of education and its functions and impacts on the society...We realized that education is an essential right without which the exercise of all other human rights would not be possible," she added.

The Minority Affairs minister was here to participate in the "Gandhi Jayanti International Conference on Education as a Basic Right of the Humankind" at Jamia.
"Even where Governments provide educational services, some groups still lack access to those public services owing to political, cultural, ethnic, linguistic, geographical or other situations. We must make special provisions under such circumstances to ensure that people are not deprived of their right to education," she added.
