Higher education in Jharkhand has not yet reached to the expected level and efforts are on to develop it, Jharkhand HRD minister Neera Yadav said here today.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day conference on 'Scope and Need for Imparting Quality Higher Education in Jharkhand,' Yadav said the state lagged behind in higher education sector despite being successful at the primary level education.
There was much to improve higher education, an official release said quoting the Minister.
She pointed out that students often worry to get admissions to colleges for higher studies and college authorities could ponder over in conducting classes in two phases to mitigate their worries.
"Instructions have been issued to deputy commissioners of different districts for identifying land for setting up degree colleges for women," she said.
The department's effort was to finish projects in a time bound manner while making policies, she said adding, the government was making efforts to train teachers and improve basic requirements in the sector.
She expressed hope that the two-day deliberations could throw light for improvement of higher education.
The release also quoted HRD secretary Aradhana Patnaik as saying it was the first time the government has embarked upon higher education campaign at the national level on the lines of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.
