Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice M M Kumar today said several measures were being taken for expeditious disposal of pending cases and to ensure accountability at all levels in state judiciary.
"To fast track the disposal of cases, efforts are being made to reach out to subordinate courts through video conferencing, so that expeditious justice is delivered to the needy," Justice Kumar said after laying foundation stone of new district court complex at Pulwama, 32 kilometres from here.
He said this system helped substantially and a huge chunk of pending cases were cleared on merit.
"An effort has also been made to ensure accountability at all levels to restore speedy justice," he said.
The Chief Justice said infrastructural development was necessary to ensure better working environment in the judiciary and efforts are afoot to upgrade the necessary facilities in every nook and corner of the state.
Expressing happiness over the proposed court complex, Justice Kumar said an effort was made to meet the futuristic requirements of Pulwama district.
"There is plenty of scope for expansion on the acquired land," he said while asking the executing agency to focus on quality of work and complete the project on time.
The proposed complex, coming up at a cost of Rs 25.15 crore, will be constructed over a land of six acres during two working seasons to accommodate the Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge and all subordinate courts under one roof.
