Eight arrested for murdering woman and her son

Eight persons have been arrested for allegedly shooting a woman and her son dead over an old rivalry in Hisar district, police said.
Those arrested yesterday were identified as Sushil, Anil, Inderpal, Nihal Singh, Mahabir, Balwan Singh, Ram Niwas and Raj Kumar, all residents of Balak village.
According to police, a local court here has sent Sushil and Anil to police custody for two days and others to judicial custody.
Shagun Devi (50) and her son Kuldeep (28) were gunned down while her another son Surender sustained bullet injuries when some armed assailants entered their house and opened fire on them on March 15.

Old rivalry is stated to be the cause of the crime, they said.
Police had registered a case under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and under the provisions of the Arms Act against 48 persons in this connection.
