Shambhu Kumar, a resident of Shakurpur JJ colony, was easing himself near a drain when he was dragged away by a group of boys yesterday. Later, he was allegedly thrashed by them. Kumar's bag along with Rs 3,000 cash were robbed by the boys, said Milind Dumbere, DCP (north west).
Shambhu managed to catch hold one of the boys while the rest fled away from the spot. Later, he made a PCR call and the boy was handed over to police.
Following questioning of the detained boy, his seven other associates, all minors, were also apprehended the same night. Efforts are on to catch one absconding boy, he added.
The knife used in robbing Shambhu was also recovered by the police.
