Eight die in rain-related incidents in UP

Eight persons were killed in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours with major rivers in the state flowing above the danger mark during it courses at several places.
Reports reaching here said that seven persons, including three children were killed and five others injured in separate incicents of house collapse due to rains in Kannauj and Azamgarh districts, whereas one death was reported from Barabanki district.
According to the Central Water Commission, major rivers were flowing above the red mark at different places.
Rivers Ganga at Gazipur and Ballia, Yamuna at Prayag Ghat (Mathura) Sharda at Palia Kalan and Ghaghra at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar were flowing above the danger mark.
The Met office here said that the south-west monsoon being normal over the state, moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers occurred at many places over the east UP and few places over the western districts.
Chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms: Barra 11; Chatnag-9; Phaphamau-8; Bani, Chhibramau, Phoolpur, Sitapur 7 each; Handia, Mau, Mauranipur 6 each; Allahabad, Kunda, Aligarh, Etawah, Chillaghat 5 each; Kakrahi, Regoli, Elgin Bridge and Allahabad 4 each.
The department officials forecast that rain or thundershower would occur at many places over the state tomorrow.
