Eight persons, including three siblings, were on Tuesday held guilty of killing a Samajwadi Party leader's brother nine years ago when he was on his way to attend a court hearing in the district.
While convicting the eight, Additional District Sessions Judge Radhey Shyam Yadav slated August 19 for sentencing them.
Prosecution counsel Pawan Kumar Singhal said the case dated back to May 26, 2010, when SP leader Mehrajuddin's brother Naseem was shot dead when he was on his way to a court at Tewda under the Kakroli police station area.
The FIR in the case was lodged on the complaint of deceased brother, a former district general secretary of the Samajwadi Party, accusing ten persons of being involved in the killing.
The eight accused, who were convicted today by the court included three siblings, Arshad, Ragib and Raunaq, besides Nazer, Imtyaz, Afzal, Abdul and Samad.
Two others named in the FIR, Alam and Farman, died during the trial.
