Eight killed as vehicle falls into gorge in Ukhand

Eight persons including four women were killed and seven others injured today after a vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Tehri district.
The accident took place around 3.30 PM on Ghansali-Akhori road when the vehicle fell in the 250-metre deep gorge near Shantakhal, Ghansali SDM Vinod Kumar said.
Eight persons, including the driver, were killed on the spot and seven others were injured, he said.
The injured were taken to a hospital in Pilkhi, from where two were referred to another hospital after their condition deteriorated, Kumar said.
The deceased were identified as Jeetram (55), Jalamdas (62), Mangla Devi (42), Sundar lal Bhatt (62), Sauni Devi (50), Vinita (19), Basbita Devi (22) and the driver Kuldip Singh (32).
