Elephant calf rescued from water tank

A five-year-old elephant calf, which fell into a water tank in a agriculture field in Periyanaickenpalayam on the outskrits, was rescued today by Forest Department officials, after toiling for nearly three hours.
The male calf, which strayed into the field, accidentally fell into the tank and was struggling to come out from nearly 20 foot deep tank and some agricultural workers informed forest department, police said.
Forest officials lifted the elephant from the tank using an earth mover released to the nearby forest area, they said.
