elephant was found dead in Devala Forest area near Pandalur about 80 Kms from here.
Forest department officials, including veterinarian Prabu rushed to the spot on information and postmortem revealed that the elephant died due to a fall from a height.
As the carcass was half eaten by the small animals in the forest, it was left there, Prabu said.
