Elephant kills tea garded labourer in Jalpaiguri

A tea garden labourer was killed by an elephant at Batabari Tea Garden here today morning.
The elephant had entered the tea garden all of a sudden and killed, Dulal Debnath, Ranger of Gorumara North Division said.
The victim, Abdul Mannan (56), was working in the tea garden when the elephant charged at him, picked him up with its trunk and threw him on the ground and killing him.
He also said that the forest department would pay Rs 20,000 to Mannan's family.
