Elephants trample man to death in Assam

The elephants trampled the man as he came out of his houseat Guriya Hirapara near Krishnai forest early this morning, the sources said.

The pachyderms coming down from the hills in neighbouring Meghalaya in search of food had also destroyed several thatched houses and paddy fields during the last few days, they said.

Meanwhile, the local people have urged the Forest Department to guide the herd away from their habitation.
