West Bengal Health Services Director Biswaranjan Satpathy said Roy was suspended.
During the day, four deaths due to different types of encephalitis were reported from parts of the state in the last 24 hours taking the toll in the state since January to 206.
"In the last 24 hours, four deaths have been reported. Among them, two were from north Bengal and two from Murshidabad and another from Bishnupur," Satpathy told PTI.
The other two persons who died due to the disease were from Murshidabad and Bishnupur, he added.
