Encounter breaks out between army and militants in Kashmir

An encounter broke out tonight between security forces and militants in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants in Redwani Bala village of the district, a joint team of police and army launched a search operation, police said.
They said as the security forces were conducting the search operation, the holed up militants opened fir on them. The forces retaliated, triggering an encounter.
The firing was going on when the last report came in, the police said, adding there was no report of any causality so far.
