Encyclopedia Britannica, a reference book in homes and libraries worldwide, today said it has partnered with publisher Katha to take the best of Indian stories published by the latter to children across India and worldwide.
A memorandum of understanding was signed today between Encyclopedia Britannica Inc. Global President Jorge Cauz and Katha Founder and Executive Director Geeta Dharmarajan.
Britannica will convert titles owned by Katha into eBooks and distribute them worldwide under its eBook program under the overall eLibrary initiative, the company said in a statement.
Katha will compile a literature reader in English as a curricular textbook for Classes 1-8 for Britannica to publish and market in India. Britannica will then use its channels to offer this literature reader to schools following Indian curriculum overseas as part of its curricular offering.
Cauz is in India to promote digital learning in South Asia
To date, Katha has published over 200 children's titles and 110 translated stories sourced from India's many regional languages.
