The locals last night apprehended the persons, including Junion Engineer Surya Prakash, while they were loading the transformer in a vehicle and locked them up in a room, they said.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested the accused, they said.
A case has been registered against the five accused in this connection, they added.
