This year's run, with its tag of 'Let's Start' has urged the city's dwellers to start running as a way to lead a healthy life.
The marathon, spearheaded by the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) as part of the Navy Day celebrations, was conducted in three categories of 21.1 Km (Half Marathon), 10 Km and 5 Km runs.
All the three runs were flagged off from the Kursura Submarine Museum, with the race route running parallel to the scenic sea shore of the city towards GITAM University and turning back to culminate at the Naval Coastal Battery.
Earlier, the 21.1K run was flagged off by Vice Admiral Bimal Varma, Chief of Staff, ENC. The 10K run was flagged off by Vice Admiral Satish Soni, Commander-in-Chief of ENC.
986 runners, participated in the Half Marathon, which was won by Titus Gitbu from Kenya in a record timing of 1h 12 m 22s.
Daniel Lang, also from Kenya, stood at the second position with a timing of 1h 12m 49s.
In the female category, another Keniyan Ruth Bogo of won the Half Marathon with a timing of 1h 47m 18s followed by Hirawat Patel.
