Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) sleuths raided five homes and seized incriminating documents in connection with an alleged land scam worth more than Rs 50 crore, a top official said here today.
"We raided five places, including residences of Nitin Agrawal and P Raju who are both proprietors as well as partners of Swadesh Developers & Builders (SDB), former Chief Municipal Officer of Kolar Rajesh Shrivastava and sub-engineer of Kolar Municipality Vinod Tripathi, " Bhopal EOW Superintendent of Police Shashikant Shukla told PTI.
Allegedly, the real estate developers had fraudulently purchased costly land from Sarvadharam Housing Society between 2001 and 2010 as well as raised Orchid Palace Township on 20 acres of land under Kolar Municipality, EOW Inspector Virendra Singh said.
"We seized incriminating documents in connection with the land scam including files, registers and computer hard disk drives," the inspector said.
He said that EOW booked some people including Nitin Agrawal, P Raju, Rajesh Shrivastava and Vinod Tripathi for allegedly fraudulent deals as well as raising the township unlawfully under sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act on December 24 after investigation.
He said that the land scam was of more than Rs 50 crore.
