A former policeman was arrested today for allegedly abusing police personnel in Calangute village when they stopped him for not wearing a helmet, an official said.
Calangute Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi said the incident occurred when the police personnel were checking vehicles for documents.
The personnel stopped Anton Paul Britto (45) who was riding a two-wheeler without a helmet, he said.
"The accused started abusing the policeman and obstructed them from doing their duty," Dalvi said.
Britto had served as a police constable before he resigned from service.
He is also facing an attempt to murder case.
Britto has been booked under various sections of the IPC.
