A Bengaluru police team arrested Nagaraj, popularly known as "Bomb Naga" and his sons Gandhi and Shastri from Arcot in Tamil Nadu today, said the officials.
All the three are now being brought to the city after the completion of formalities, they said.
Confirming the arrest on twitter, city police chief Praveen Sood said "Ex-corporator NagRaj arrested by a team led by East DCP Ajay Hilori. Well done team."
They had also recovered two swords, five sickles, two baseball bats and several property documents.
Originally a history-sheeter, Nagaraj had managed to escape on the day of the raid and had been hiding at different places, the police officials said.
Even while hiding, he had managed to release some video tapes to select news channels recently, accusing some police officers and politicians of hatching "conspiracy" against him.
In 2004, Nagraj had unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections from the Gandhinagar constituency in the city on JD (S) ticket against Dinesh Gundurao, now the working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
