Customs and Central Excise Superintendent A C Thomas of the Customs Preventive Division and his wife Thressia were convicted and sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment each and were imposed a total fine of Rs five lakh for the offence punishable under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The verdict was given by CBI Special Judge B Kalam Pasha.
The anti-corruption wing of the CBI, which investigated the case, alleged Thressia abetted her husband Thomas in acquisition of assets by purchasing properties in her name.
