Almeida, the BJP MLA from Vasco, has denied the charge.
Neny D'Souza, wife of D'Souza, former revenue minister, said the incident occurred yesterday in Vasco town when she was returning home after an outing with her family. Almeida's car overtook her car and tried to block the way, she said.
"My driver managed to save the car from falling in a roadside ditch," Neny said in the FIR lodged at Vasco police station.
"I fear that Almeida is trying to hurt my family," Neny alleged in her complaint against Almeida, who represents Vasco constituency and is currently the chairman of the state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation.
Jose Philip D'Souza said he was present in the car when the alleged incident occurred.
"We averted a major accident, which might have taken place due to the unruly behaviour of the legislator. This is not expected from a member of the Assembly," D'Souza said.
A senior police official said the complaint is being examined.
