Veeraiah and his wife Jothi died on the spot when the assailants attacked them with sharp-edged weapons at Ponkudupatti tonight.
His 12-year old daughter Samyuktha and five-year old son suffered serious cut injuries as the gang members attacked them also, police said adding they had been admitted to the Government Hospital here.
Police suspect his first wife Gandhi, with whom he had several fights, could be behind the murder.
