The account has been launched at State Bank of India(SBI) Kohima on Saturday after holding a series of meetings with social organizations and community leaders residing at Dimapur, a Raj Bhavan release said here today.
The Governor has appealed that those who want to sponsor one girl child for one year, an amount of Rs 2,500 can be deposited in the account opened for the purpose in SBI Kohima.
The Prime Minister launched the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme in January 2015, to address issues that affect women in the longer term and to reverse the trend of an adverse and declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR).
