A special exhibition highlighting the role of women in Mahatma Gandhi's mass movements against the British rule will be held tomorrow at the National Gandhi Museum here.
Also, the restored edition of "The Homage to Mahatma", a compilation of tributes paid to Gandhi by leaders, both from India as well as outside, will be on display during the event, to be held in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birth anniversary.
"Rare audio tapes of tributes paid by Lord Mountbatten, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, among other leaders, which were broadcast on All India Radio right after Gandhiji's assassination on January 30, 1948 will also be played," said A Annamalai, Director, the National Gandhi Museum, Delhi.
The exhibition on women's role in Gandhi's mass movements is being held for the first time and shows the "boldness" of the women who came to the forefront of the fight for freedom during the Salt Satyagraha in 1930, etc, Annamalai said.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Culture Sujata Prasad, museum officials said.
Prasad will also release a paper, titled "Women in Gandhi's Mass Movement" by Aparna Basu, the chairperson of the museum.
"The Homage to Mahatma" has been written by Sadhana Rout, the Director General of the government's Publication Division.
