Union Textile Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar and DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh jointly inaugurated the event organised to showcase the rich variety of textiles, handicrafts and bamboo furniture and artefacts of the region.
Gangwar said the Ministry of Textiles has taken an initiative to set up an apparel and garment making centre in all eight states in the Northeastern region.
He said this is the first organised effort to bring modern ready-made garment industry in the region and a significant step towards the 'Make in India' initiative of the government.
