A large quantity of explosive materials kept illegally was today seized from a stone quarry, allegedly owned by a close relative of a former DMK Minister, at a village in the district, police said.
Police raided the quarry at Malaipatti village on specific information and seized 750 kg of ammonium nitrate and 145 gelatin sticks, DSP Jesuraj said.
They also arrested two employees of the quarry, he said.
The explosives had been stored in the quarry without proper permission, he said, adding that further investigation was on in the matter.
