Jharkhand Director General of Police D K Pandey today said extremism will be wiped out from the Maoist-affected Palamau division in 2017 and the state police will chalk out a strategy in co-ordination with their counterparts in the bordering states.
Pandey, who held a high-level meeting with senior police officers of the division at the headquarter of CRPF 11B battalion, said all extremism would be neutralised by 2017 as the state police have planned various anti-Maoist operations to achieve the goal.
"We will chalk out strategies with bordering states of Palamau, Latehar and Garwah districts to ensure all extremists groups are neutralised," he said.
The DGP directed to start development work in coordination with the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Divisional Forest Officer from Garu in Gumla district to remote areas.
"2017 will be observed as Maoist eradication year," Pandey said, while honouring the security personnel involved in recovering large quantity of arms and ammunitions following an encounter in Latehar district on Monday including Superintendent of Police Annop Birtheray and Commandant of CRPF Pankaj Kumar.
Additional Director General (Special Branch) Anurag Gupta, CRPF IG Sanjay Anand Latekar, IG (Palamau) Ashish Batra, DIG Vipul Shukla and Superintendents of Police of Palamau, Latehar and Garwah were also present on the occasion.
