"On the basis of a tip-off we arrested one Mohammad Ayub alias Babu this morning with a fake Rs 500 denomination note from Vejalpur area," DCP (Crime Branch) Depen Bhadran said.
"On his interrogation we found out that a man who had earlier delivered fake currencies to him was coming to Ahmedabad today from Uttar Pradesh by train. We arrested the second person, Mohammad Israr, from the railway station with fake notes having a face value of Rs 10 lakh," he said.
Ayub was once a member of the crime syndicate led by gangster Abdul Latif (now dead) and allegedly involved in numerous crimes, including murders, police said.
