Only six states - Bihar, Karnataka, Delhi, J&K, Kerala and Meghalaya - showed an improvement in enrolments in primary education.
As per information shared by Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha in the Lok Sabha, the states and Union Territories with the sharpest fall were Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh and Haryana.
Sikkim saw this enrolment ratio drop by 21.55 per cent, Nagaland saw a fall of 19.28 per cent, and Manipur saw a decrease by 18.3 per cent.
Top among the states that showed an improvement is Bihar, registering an improvement of 9.7 per cent with enrolments going up from 97.96 in 2013-2014 to 107.67 in 2015-2016.
Meghalaya saw an increase of 5.55 per cent from 135.35 in 2013-2014 to 140.90 in 2015-2016.
A marginal improvement was recorded by Kerala (.02 per cent), Delhi (.04 per cent), J&K (1.08 per cent)and Karnataka (1.8 per cent).
