Farmer injured in bear attack

A 32-year old farmer was injured after a wild bear attacked him in a nearby village in the early hours of today.
Vellingiri was going to Chinnar village after crossing a forest fringe when the bear appeared from a bush, chased and attacked him, police said.
Hearing his screams, some villagers came to his rescue and managed to scare away the wild animal by hurling stones.
He sustained bleeding injuries on his back and hands and had been admitted to a government hospital, they said.
