Farmer kills self by consuming pesticide in Gujarat

A 41-year-old farmer today allegedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in his farm in Nani Vavdi town near Dhoraji of Rajkot district, police said.
"Vikram Pithadiya allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide in his farm," Rajkot rural police control room in-charge Mukeshbhai Solanki said.
"Pithadiya died soon after consuming the pesticide, his body has been sent for post mortem" the official said.
"He had cultivated cotton and groundnut but the production of the crops was below his expectation. Prima facie, this could have led him to take extreme step," police said.
