A farmer allegedly set his produce afire at the state's biggest herbal market here today after he did not get the desired price for it, police said.
Suresh Dhakad of Dhamnar area brought his basil (tulsi) stalks to sell it in the mandi (market). He offered a minimum price of Rs 490 for a quintal of Basil stalks, a senior police official said.
However, disappointed over not finding any buyer for his crop at the price which he had quoted, he set ablaze the produce, the officer added.
Dhakad claimed that he set his produce on fire as he didn't get the "desired price" for it.
Mandi Committee Director Umrao Singh Gurjar said not only Dhakad, but other farmers are also unhappy as they are not getting even the minimum support price for their produce.
