Farmers arrested for assaulting veterinary student
Press Trust of India Mathura Two farmers were arrested today for allegedly assaulting a veterinary student while he was attending to their buffalo at a hospital here, police said.
"Farmers Padam Singh and his brother Yashvir Singh were arrested for hitting a student of Deen Dayal Veterinary University here today, who was assisting the doctors to treat a buffalo belonging to the accused," SSP Rakesh Singh said.
The accused hit the victim with a cane and later manhandled him after the student took out blood sample from the buffalo and the animal went out of control.
The victim fell unconscious after the attack and was rushed to a hospital in Agra, police said.
Following the incident, the students of the Deen Dayal Veterinary University protested outside the Kothari hospital here, where the alleged assault took place, they said.
"The condition of the injured student is under control. We have been assured full protection by the police," Prof A C Varsaney, Vice Chancellor of the university who rushed here from Delhi after the incident said.
