"The government is adding insult to the injury of the farmers who are already suffering due to heavy crop loss. Most of the farmers have got the compensation below an amount of Rs 200," said Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) district joint secretary Gopal Patidar.
He said the farmers were given the compensation of Rs 5, Rs 2 or even 80 paise in some cases.
The farmers also returned the amount given to them under the insurance scheme in coins of Re 1, Rs 2 and Rs 5 to Deputy Collector PL Dewda, who received their memoranda addressed to PM and chief minister.
"We have received the memorandums of farmers. I will apprise the district collector about this protest," Dewda said.
