Potato growers dumped several quintals of their crop in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here today to protest the sudden fall in prices.
The farmers reached in tractor trolleys and threw potatoes on the road near the commissioner's office.
Farmers Ravinder Singh, Gurdev Singh, Jaspal Singh, Suresh Trehan and Jarnail Singh said their production cost was around Rs 4 per kg but they were getting Rs 2.50 a kg in the market, meaning they had to bear a loss of Rs 1.50 for every kg sold.
They demanded that the government frame policies so that farmers could at least bear their production cost.
