A number of issues ranging from a policy to deal with the problem of missing children in the country to a loan waiver for farmers in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra were raised in Lok Sabha today.
BJP member Birendra Singh raised the issue of human trafficking during Zero Hour saying 1,77,660 children have been missing between 2009 to 2011 of which only 1,22,190 have been found.
Out of the 55,000 missing children, 35,615 are minor girls, he said making a strong plea for making the National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Protection of Children's Rights more pro-active.
Ramdas Tadas (BJP) called for a Rs 1,500 crore loan waiver to farmers in parts of Vidarbha which has witnessed a spate of suicides due to growing indebtedness.
P Karunakaran (CPI-M) sought a ban on the use of Endosulphan pesticide.
He said the poisonous pesticide has led to 500 deaths in Kerala and has also affected neighbouring parts of Karnataka.
Kamla Devi Patle (BJP) made a strong plea that various power projects coming up at the power hub at Jangjir-Champa should fulfil promises given by them to the locals including in the matter of employment and other welfare measures.
